This work has a limited number of musical elements, like pieces of mosaic. These pieces have a tendency to stretch and blend into each other. The result is a sort of "liquid mosaic". TR, 2007/2022

The instrumental parts of Liquid Mosaic (2007) are largely constructed using aleatory counterpoint, meaning that the two guitarists perform their fragments within certain parameters provided by the composer, sometimes stopping to repeat a passage, sometimes simply floating in the flow of time. Control between the instruments is approximate, except in passages in which the notation becomes more fixed, in the manner of Lutosławski. A tape part, forming a kaleidoscope of sublimated guitar sounds, plays a central part in the work and is even assigned a more soloistic role in a few strategic places. The intended effect is that of a transition into a fairytale-like state where abnormal phenomena become possible. The title is particularly apt: the music consists of small bits and pieces of a fluid and flexible nature that come together to create an amorphous, ‘wet’ sensation. In this ‘moist’ context, the short sections written in traditional musical notation seem like ‘dry’ crystallisations.
