Imprinting is a rapid learning process observed in animals, particularly in birds. After hatching, this mechanism is essential for survival, as it helps young birds identify and mimic their parents' behaviour.

At the beginning of this duo, a bird (let's say a female duck), represented by the cor anglais, is incubating an egg. When the newborn duckling, represented by the guitar, hatches, it immediately starts to follow and imitate its mother. As the piece progresses, the duckling's mimicking skills improve until they become comparable to those of the parent. By the end of the piece, the young duck has matured, leaves to start its own life, and prepares to incubate its own eggs. TR, 2026
