Superdodecaphonium is a collection of small studies using a tone-system, which I have been exploring over the years. This system has nothing to do with the traditional twelve-tone system. It’s more like a modulation map of scales or modes of 24 tones. However, these scales are, in fact, built of two sets of twelve-tone rows, hence the title Superdodecaphonium. The opening movement, Ludus I, can be seen as a sporty challenge: all the 88 keys of the piano have to be played as fast as possible.
